We played our first game of the Labatts Tourney in Lancaster, PA. If you haven't ever been to one of these, it's a very informal type of thing. It's well run, but the teams aren't all that great. You get so many lopsided games due to being lumped together because of lack of interest by most teams in the area. I'm guessing that people are burnt out from playoffs and other tourneys the week before that they don't want to be bothered with coming to this one. If you like beer, this is the one for you. You get a free baseball cap that says Labatts and all the free beer you can drink. It's a waste for me as I don't drink beer, but the free cap is always a plus. It doesn't take much to make me happy.
We tied the Lehigh Valley Wicked 2-2. They didn't have a lot of their normal players with them, as they aren't that great of a team during the regular season. We, the Flames, were a mix of players from other teams as well, but we still should have beat them, but our team wasn't jelling the way it should have. That happens at tourneys, so I'm always surprised and happy when we win or get second place. You never know who is going to load their team up with ringers to come and kick some poor unsuspecting teams asses at these things so they can bring home a trophy.
